WHY MALAYSIANS NEED TO LEARN ENGLISH LANGUAGE?

Imagine you want to go hunting...you have only one gun with 30 bullets, how many games can you shoot and take back home? Imagine you have three different guns, with at least 20 bullets for each.......how many games can you shoot and take home? Using this simple comparison, isn't it clear that one needs to have more than one languages to be able to get more from this worldly life?
If you look around you, is there any Malaysian who has been really very successful by using only one language on his/her own? I really doubt it because of all the Malaysians listed as 'successful', I did not see a single person who depends only on his/her mother tongue. In the context of English language......one will for sure needs to use the English language because it is one of the most used languages of the world. If one goes to any university, a major portion of the reference books are in English and many local lecturers are conversant in English. Therefore, learn English to have a better and easier mode of communication with people whom you never expect to meet but you may need to meet for your own benefit.
I never say that one should neglect the importance of learning Bahasa Malaysia though. Not a single proud Malaysian should call himself/herself truly Malaysian if he/she cannot speak Bahasa as fluently as possible. This is because to show that you are proud of your country, you must master your country's national language. Therefore, a good malaysian should never ever let his/her pride be shot down by exposing his/her own weak point by not being able to speak in Bahasa Malaysia the way he/she should be. I for one never use my ability to speak and communicate in English as an excuse to make me neglect my own mother tongue. In fact I always beleive that my mother tongue must always be protected from any element of adulterous use that will only degrade the value of the beautiful and meaningful language. Think and 'fikirkanlah'.
